To work remotely and balance your job and life seems impossible to many.  If you are like me, you work many hours and don’t seem to have enough hours in the day to do it all.  The only time I could work remotely is if my office was on fire, but don’t call the firefighters yet.  Many companies offer flexible working options that might work for you.  And if you need to convince your boss, tell them it cuts costs, and several surveys found that commuting will be unheard of in the future.  If it has been an idea you are toying with, I found some websites for finding remote work that might be useful to you.
If you do work remotely, you already know the benefits.   A few that come to mind are you work at your own pace, have a non-stressful commute, and with videoconferencing, it allows you to meet face-to-face, virtually, with no travel expenses. With social media and smart phones, you do not need to be next to someone to effectively communicate and get things done.  Whether from home or another creative place, remote work provides you with that choice.

Balancing Your Job and Life – Yes You Can and You Deserve It!

Free time is scarce, but it is important to make it happen.  Plan your downtime by scheduling something that gives you something to look forward to.  Take a vacation.  You don’t need to go far or spend a lot of money, but it’s important to recharge your batteries.  Devote time to exercising and taking care of yourself.  Lack of sleep, not eating well, and not exercising can make you feel out of balance.  Whether it’s a sports activity, a new hobby, or a night out with your friends, it will give you something to look forward to and connect with those who are important in your life.   Read a book, take a walk. It does not have to be time-consuming, but put aside an hour on your schedule.

Set boundaries by stepping away from your smart phones, and turn off emails.  Yes, that can be hard for some, but set blocks of time where you turn off your devices.  This will help you be fully present in your personal life.

If you know someone who has it all, ask them for advice on how they manage their time and set priorities.

Learn how to say no and learn to delegate.  Saying no can be difficult for a lot of people, but it is the nicest thing you can do for yourself and give you time to do the things you cherish.  Delegating allows you to concentrate on more important things.

At the end of the day, you deserve to have a balanced life.  Balance is a beautiful thing and you deserve to increase your joy and do things that make you happy.  Achieve the balance you deserve.  Having said that, I took time out of my calendar to write this and it made me feel creative and alive… that is a great thing.  Now for some cocktails
I hope you can find the balance in your job and life because you truly deserve it!
